If you have had feelings that you are fated to have what you have no matter what, feeling trapped and bound to the web of destiny, then you are about to realize that you are merely entangled in an illusion that might take some time to unravel. Just know, you do have the power to make changes in your life through the engineering of your thought patterns.

One day you may ask yourself, how exactly did my life become mine? Sometimes an internal desire to dream of experiencing something other than what we are experiencing will shake us into the awareness of having lived our life somewhat on autopilot. Time can sneak up on us like that. But fortunately, seeing spiders or having spider dreams, whether scary or not, is a good sign that you are being encouraged or guided to change for the better. Spider medicine appears when an internal desire for something we want, but don’t know how to create, grows inside us.

“Spider medicine appears when an internal desire for something we want, but don’t know how to create, grows inside us.”

Girls with web of beliefs

When we learn something, it shifts how we act. And like a song that plays on autopilot, recorded learning becomes a program that we can repeatedly run in the background of our life as we carry out more actions. However, that song/program carries a frequency, a pattern, and a vibe… that we march to and influences all other things we create. As we grow from infant to child, we are shaped by elders to survive our vulnerability in the early developing years, which influences us for the rest of our lives.

I am reminded of a wise man’s famous words:

“Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”

Lao Tzo

Spiders are indeed powerful despite their size. And that does make them a bit terrifyingly TERRIFIC!

There is the magic in us to manifest our reality… to see beyond what we know from what we learned, and decide to think differently to shape ourselves into what we want to be. We must change the patterns of action we weave into existence. We must form thoughts and words to speak our dreams into reality.

This begs the question…

How does one step outside their life to observe the pattern of repeating habits that spiraled into what has or has not transpired?

Take a moment to reflect on the continuous thoughts, beliefs, and habits manifesting in your current situation. Bring more awareness to your opinions as much as you can. If you want to predict your future, listen to the words and ideas expressed in your mind. Find what is continuously repeating and distill it down to its origin story if you want to know how you got hooked on the pattern. Just know that discovering what you truly wish to change about your thinking is more critical. Decide what you really want to start thinking differently about and start doing it. Then rinse and repeat.

Spider Medicine also teaches the POWER OF SUGGESTION.

There is a native origin story that Grandmother Spider invented the letters of all languages in her web. I wonder if that origin story inspired E. B. White, author of Charlotte’s Web… or if he was channeling spider medicine. Because in this story, a spider named Charlotte saves a pig’s destiny through what she writes to him on her web. Charlotte created the words, but Wilbur spoke them into his existence.

The actual words Charlotte wove into her web (SOME PIG, TERRIFIC, RADIANT, HUMBLE).

Charlotte's Web characters

“Ever since the spider had befriended him, he had done his best to live up to his reputation. When Charlotte’s web said SOME PIG, Wilbur had tried hard to look like some pig. When Charlotte’s web said TERRIFIC, Wilbur had tried to look terrific. And now that the web said RADIANT, he did everything possible to make himself glow.”

-E.B. White, Charlotte’s Web

The essence of spider medicine comes straight down to the power of suggestion. But it’s not a one-and-done deal. Again, I must emphasize that it is strengthened through sequential repetition. Notice how spirals repeat in a power ratio. A person’s will to repeat a thought over and over in the mind starts somewhere in a person’s life and can become an established neural pathway in the brain that dictates actions. Sort of like a keyboard shortcut or an action script. Once it is created and the trigger is touched, an action gets carried out as an automatic response.

Itsy Bitsy Spider (repetitious learning song)

The itsy bitsy spider crawled up the water spout.
Down came the rain and washed the spider out.
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain,
and the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again.

Enjoy more quotes I found to be exceptional from Charlotte’s Web written by E.B. White:

“A miracle has happened and a sign has occurred here on earth, right on our farm, and we have no ordinary pig.” “Well,” said Mrs. Zuckerman, “it seems to me you’re a little off. It seems to me we have no ordinary spider.” “Oh, no,” said Zuckerman. “It’s the pig that’s unusual. It says so, right there in the middle of the web.”

“Do you understand how there could be any writing in a spider’s web?”
Oh, no,” said Dr Dorian. “I don’t understand it. But for that matter I don’t understand how a spider learned to spin a web in the first place. When the words appeared, everyone said they were a miracle. But nobody pointed out that the web itself is a miracle.”

Spider Woman spoke the world into existence. Ojibwe and Lakota Native Americans saw Spider as a great protector. Web charms known as Dreamcatchers were created for protection from bad dreams (manifestations)

“With the right words, you can change the world.”

(Charlotte, the Spider)

“These autumn days will shorten and grow cold. The leaves will shake loose from the trees and fall. Christmas will come, then the snows of winter. You will live to enjoy the beauty of the frozen world, for you mean a great deal to Zuckerman and he will not harm you, ever. Winter will pass, the days will lengthen, the ice will melt in the pasture pond. The song sparrow will return and sing, the frogs will awake, the warm wind will blow again. All these sights and sounds and smells will be yours to enjoy, Wilbur — this lovely world, these precious days…”

“Nobody, of the hundreds of people that had visited the Fair, knew that a grey spider had played the most important part of all. No one was with her when she died.”

“But, Charlotte,” said Wilbur, “I’m not terrific.”

That doesn’t make a particle of difference,” replied Charlotte. “Not a particle. People believe almost anything they see in print.”

Frozen web

“A spider’s web is stronger than it looks. Although it is made of thin, delicate strands, the web is not easily broken.”

“What do you mean less than nothing? I don’t think there is any such thing as less than nothing. Nothing is absolutely the limit of nothingness. It’s the lowest you can go. It’s the end of the line. How can something be less than nothing? If there were something that was less than nothing, then nothing would not be nothing, it would be something – even though it’s just a very little bit of something. But if nothing is nothing, then nothing has nothing that is less than it is.”
(Charlotte, the Spider)

“It is quite possible that an animal has spoken to me and that I didn’t catch the remark because I wasn’t paying attention.”
(Dr. Dorian, the Vet)

Wilbur and his spider friends.

“Children almost always hang onto things tighter than their parents think they will.”

“We take to the breeze; we go as we please.”
(said by Charlotte’s baby spiders upon coming into the world)
